Home Is Where The Heart Is

On June 25, 2007, in Personal, by Woy

After nearly a month long period of self-imposed online and personal blackout, I’m back and wired for sound. Stretch and I have spent the better part of the last few weeks moving into the new Casa De Woy, which was way more effort than I would have ever expected.  Even with purchasing a newly constructed home instead of an older/pre-existing house, you still have loads of things to do and be concerned about.  Not to mention getting all your stuff over to the new digs, which only took us a days weeks.  Here’s some lessons learned:

  • Grass seed takes a lot longer to sprout than you think.
  • I must be the only human being on Earth that has trouble with semi-rigid dryer ducts.
  • Never, ever move into your new home during a U.S. Open.
  • Women cannot look at white walls for longer than 24 hours.  It’s a rule.
  • When your DirectTV installation guy pulls up and his shirt is three sizes too big with his pants hanging down to near his knees, it could mean trouble.
  • I never thought I’d say this:  I’ve been to Home Depot so many times that I actually know where stuff is in the store.  This should scare anyone that has known me longer than 10 seconds.
  • Related to the above point, I’ve realized I can do more handy stuff than I ever thought possible.

All in all, it’s been a pretty successful adventure.  Now that I’m back on the grid, I have lots of catching (and making up) to do with family, friends, and associates.  WearLocal took a big back seat too, so it’s time to tie up the loose ends and launch that badboy soon.

Funny what you learn through moving. I too am anti- dryer duct. I am also anti-curtin rods and the people that think that using steel in a home for the purpose of keeping me safe from a hurricane, but not telling Wife of House before she drills.

So Woy, in what isle can I find drills?

Congrats on the house. Pork and Beans are in the mail.

White walls are eeeevil. Especially when there’s a house full of them.

And the only place I’ve ever been able to grow grass is in a Dixie cup.
