Open Coffee, DevHouse, and Tweetup… Oh My!
So much to do and so little time - there’s a cornucopia of events happening over the next two days that you should check out if at all possible! If you go, we’ll probably run into each other there!
Open Coffee Club: Interested in learning more about connecting with investors? Are you an entrepreneur or prospective entrepreneur? Then you should check out Open Coffee!
The Open Coffee Club was started to encourage entrepreneurs, developers, and investors to organize real-world informal meetups to chat, network, and grow. This is a place to meet people, find out what’s going on nearby you, and then take part. Imagine it as a big open lounge where people come and go, talk to others in their industry, and informally showcase demos of what they are working on. The main goal of Open Coffee is to make investment more transparent to entrepreneurs, and to move away from the formalized “pitch” to an open conversation. Investors can give entrepreneurs really valuable feedback, and this environment is meant to foster that in a pressure-free way.
Open Coffee is happening Wednesday, October 1st (that’s tomorrow!) at AlphaLab (my workplace) at 2325 E. Carson in the Southside. The coffee and conversation starts flowing at 9:00 AM so if you’re interested please stop by!
Pittsburgh Tweetup: If you are a twitterer and are around the Strip that evening, come by the Firehouse Lounge where two women have organized Pittsburgh’s first Tweetup! It’s another opportunity to meet and network with those that you might be connected to in Pittsburgh’s rich social media community. The Firehouse is a really cool, cozy bar that lends itself very well to social events. Check it out from 7:00 to 9:00 PM!
DevHouse Pittsburgh 5: Are you a developer or just seriously interested in technology? You need to check out DevHouse Pittsburgh (also happening at AlphaLab) on Thursday, October 2nd! DevHouse is a laid back collaborative event where information exchange is the standard. Lightning talks about various technologies and frameworks abound, and coding sessions can break out at any moment. Food, drink, fun, and wifi will be provided in a great open space! Things get started at 6:00 PM and run until midnight.
