Yep, I did it.
Saturday afternoon, I threw up a simple page to replace The Sandwich which simply said: “Gone.”*
I had reached the end of the road and was ready to walk away. But after consideration and a couple e-mails, I decided that wouldn’t be right. Especially with no explanation – that’s like picking your ball up and going home.
So I’m challenging myself in a way that for some strange reason reminds me of Montgomery Brewster in Brewster’s Millions. In the movie, Richard Pryor plays for the Hackensack Bulls and inherits 30 million dollars. He then has to spend all of the money within 30 days (without any assets) to get 300 million.
I know what you’re thinking – there’s a big difference between Monty and me. Yes, that’s true… I’m not a minor league pitcher.
W does this have to do with what I want to do? Pretty much nothing. Except maybe the 30 part.
I will blog every day for the next thirty days. I’ve done that once before. I want to see if I really want to give up the ghost.
Or maybe, just maybe, become committed again. You know, Elope-to-Vegas style.
*(That was a combined reference to the Dan Patrick home run calls from Sportscenter and for my boy House)

Permission to send you nasty emails if you don’t blog by 10:00 p.m. each day, SIR?!
Thank the heavens you’re back. And also apparently that now you’ve challenged yourself to make 80s movie references and/or John Candy references in every post for 30 days.
Ambitious? Yes. But I have faith you can do it.
More seriously, I hope you keep going with this blog. I would miss it if you didn’t.
You must keep blogging!!!! Must must must!! Seriously, after seeing PittGirl’s comment, I’d suggest you don’t make her angry.
you gonna buy me a gold catcher’s mask necklace?
In a weird parallel to Yinz Team. The Bulls had a train going through the middle of the outfield, we have a running track. Plus we can always say Chachi is a train. WoooooWooooooooooo!
I’ll have Woy to read when I get home! All will be right with the world. And if it’s the last we ever get to read, at least we’ll have feasted on a vast, month-long Sandwich buffet.
None of the Above for mayor!
I hope you keep going, woy. Pittsburgh needs you!
You’re not throwing in the towel on WearPittsburgh are you? Because I think my little girls need some ‘burgh tees.
ciao,
rpm
i’ll buy you expensive tea if you keep it up.
Do. not. leave. us.
Seriously, I will kick your ass if you close up shop. You totally know I could do it. And would.
Besides, if you keep popping up in my reader, maybe I’ll actually remember to send you your fun toy. Er, I mean Woygirl’s fun toy. That I’m now holding hostage until you post 30 days in a row. Just because I can.
That sound you just heard? That was me exhaling a sigh of relief.
Don’t leave! You can do it. And you have lots of people here to bug you if you don’t ;)
Hope you stick around, the burgosphere is not the same without its ground breakers.
I’m glad you’re blogging agin. I understand the time and attention demands of young-inz. It’s wise to enjoy the time with them. Reduced blogging frequency is OK. Moderation in all things, n’at. Of course, the blog is also something they’ll read when they’re 30. Cheers, Vannevar
@PittGirl – looks like you didn’t really need my permission, did you?
@Cindy – I’ll have to try to make a couple more references before the month is out.
@Claire – Aw, thanks… but haven’t I seen photos of you with a PittGirl shirt on?
@spoon – Chachi would make a great train running through the outfield.
@Dorothee – I planned it that way. :)
@RPM – I need to really get some new ones out. You’re absolutely right.
@BurghBaby – I know. I live in fear of it on a daily basis. I would love to get the house though.
@UncleCrappy – Glad you did that before the wing-up.
@Allison – Aw, thanks. :) And, you saw @burghbaby’s threat.
@Burgher Jon – That’s a very kind thing to say. I never considered myself like that… I’ve been around a while, but there’s peeps that have been around a hell of a lot longer than I have!
@Vannevar – Thanks for the comment! I like your thought around moderation. I’ll keep that in mind.
[...] blogging. Apparently I wasn’t the only one, because the Sandwich was back a day later; Woy said he was going to put up a post a day for the next month, to see if it might rekindle his blogging [...]
