Yours Truly
Welcome to Have a Good Sandwich. I’m Mike Woycheck, and you may remember me from such websites as Pittsburgh Bloggers (of which I’m a co-founder), WearPittsburgh (my local t-shirt business), and Podcamp Pittsburgh (which I have helped organize), and The Burgh Blog and That’s Church (where I’ve also served in some capacity as a “butler” of sorts to my friend, the blogger formerly known as PittGirl – Virginia Montanez).
I’m a lifelong technophile after being introduced to my first digital calculator (at age 2) and my first computer, an Apple II+, at age 5. Until college, I always considered technology my hobby and my desire to change the world through government as my life’s calling. That all changed with a summer job and realization that I had a knack with making technology work for people – and developed my subsequent cynicism for politics.
I currently work for Innovation Works, a local economic development organization, as part of AlphaLab. We help web/software/entertainment technology startups get off the ground and on the right foot.
A history of HaGS
HaGS started out as a little website that was only going to host interviews done with interesting people in the greater Pittsburgh area over a sandwich. That changed late last year when I realized that I was no longer really feeling too good about my personal blog’s name (Grabass) and decided to merge it into HaGS. Now it’s my creative outlet, updated as frequently as I see fit and when the spirit moves me.
The origin of the friends comes from one of my oldest and dearest friends, Rob Anderson… or as he is better known, The Plow King. Plow and I have known each other the better part of 25 years. Since college, whether ending a phone conversation or even bidding farewell in person, he would say goodbye by saying, “Have a Good Sandwich!”
So, read on fair reader. And, by all means, Have a Good Sandwich.
