I discovered something . . .

As unbelievable as it may seem - I, the person who doesn’t have a clue about anything to do with computers or the web, discovered something rather cool.  It is BookCrossing, a site for a global book sharing program.  People tag their books after reading them with a number provided by the site and then release [...]

What’s My (Tag)Line?

I need a new tagline.

Since the inception of Grabass the tagline always has been “We’ll Floss And Fly This Mo’Fo”. While it’s catchy, it’s growing a little old. “Never Misunderestimated” is good too… but just doesn’t seem to fit.

Anyone got any ideas? The only prize I can offer is to give the person full credit, while also making it a part of the blog redesign.

Yes, that’s what I said… I’ll give you full credit.

Deep Thoughts… By Anonymous Visitor

A meager post in lieu of a more significant one I hope to make sometime tomorrow…

In perusing the website statistics, I discovered the following actual search term that landed someone here at Grabass!

“can the english language survive george bush”

Indeed, Anonymous Visitor. Indeed.

Identity Crisis Management

The MTV Video Music awards is tonight and is, for those who consume massive quantities of cotton candy pop culture, just sheer joy to watch. It is hosted by the Hip-Hop-Artist-Formerly-Known-As-Puff-Daddy. In hearing that Sean Combs was experiencing the 7-minute name itch because he thought his new name would be “personal”, I thought about my own moniker on Grabass.

I don’t like it.

I chose it when I thought I was going to be a rather anonymous blogger, and sought something that I hadn’t really been called generally by anyone. I always thought it would grow on me, but it never did.

Looking to my good friend Diddy as a guide, I knew the time was right.

So after consulting with my personal image consultants, legal counsel, agent, and other professionals… I reached a decision. My new moniker will be Woy, as I’m referred to in real life by several people. Just like Diddy, it’s more “personal.”

You can stop holding your breath now. Wasn’t it worth it?

And no, I don’t plan on wearing a white suit anytime soon.

Time Flies

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the re-created Grabass, as well as the initial genesis of Pittsburgh Webloggers. Even though it existed since 2002, this is its longest sustained period ever.

That time went very quickly, and I want to thank all of you that have visited, commented, written, and offered encouragement through the year!

Bad Moon Sinking…

I just wanted to apologize to everyone for not being prompt with updates. The past several weeks have brought some personal turmoil and tragedy which has made keeping up difficult. This includes the Blogcast which I wanted to start this month. Hopefully we’ll be able to get something started in April.

Hopefully I’ll get back to writing again, and with something good to say.

Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag

The past several weeks has demanded my attention much more on the Pittsburgh Webloggers website than this one, hence the high degree of neglect for my blog. I will confess that, as I told L A Johnson as part of the interview for the recent Post Gazette article on pghbloggers.org, I am a much better reader than writer. So my expectations, timeliness, and quality of postings of this blog are not lofty. Hopefully yours aren’t any higher.

In any case, I’ve redesigned the look and feel based upon the Kubrick theme that is popular on the Wordpress platform. Hidden Peanuts, for example, uses the same theme. Wimmy (sorry Dave!) was working on a heading/logo for the site, but I got antsy and decided to try my hand at Photoshop on the new iMac. The effort was a good learning experience and time well spent.

So as we enter the New Year Grabass has a different look and feel… and hopefully the quality/speed of updates will do the same. I’m looking forward to the Blogfest later this month and finally meeting a lot of the wonderful writers that exist in the greater Pittsburgh area. I really hope you all attend, it’ll be good to put faces to names… errr…. text!
