Blogfest 13 was anything but unlucky on Friday night despite Mother Nature conspiring to incite Bread-and-Milk type pandemonium earlier in the day.  Some familiar faces along with new ones (Hi, Lady D and Andrea!), it made for a great evening.  Never seems like enough time though to chat and catch up with everyone, so hopefully there will be other times and places soon.

Along with other events, Blogfest affords me the opportunity to get exposed to new content that I may not have yet experienced.  I could comb through blogrolls, or get on StumbleUpon again and see what I can find.  I find that personal recommendations, like real life, serve as the best source for reliable information.

I humbly solicit from you, my dear reader(s), the blogs/podcasts/websites that are currently rocking your world or moving your soul.  They can be old favorites, new guilty pleasures, or anything in between.

Realizing it would be difficult if I limited you to one, so I’d love to hear two.  If you’re feeling particularly spicy, you can unleash three.

All lines are open… so please light up those comments!  And, of course, thank you in advance.

Yea, Liz!

A shout-out to Elizabeth Perry, who has drawn her 1,000 consecutive daily drawing today.

Now, have any of you done something to improve yourself every day for almost three years?

I wish I could say I could.

And, for that, I admire Liz so much.

I’ve been hating the look of The Sandwich for some time.  I was all over this theme when I first found it… but it wore on me quite quickly.  After my hiatus, I would come back here to post and actually not want to.  Whether that’s true or I’m just trying to self-justify my lack of writing, I’ll let that be your call.

So hopefully sometime next year soon I’ll put up a new theme.  The one thing that’s certain is that after all this time (nearly a year, by my reckoning) the clan from Big Trouble In Little China is riding the Porkchop Express out of town.

I want to stick with the movie theme(s) if to only violate MPAA regulations, so I’m looking to you for movie suggestions for themes. Anyone?  Anyone?

The Official Muse of TWM

Yesterday, I had the esteemed pleasure of dining with two Doctors.  Over a tasty plate of Dr. Fu’s noodles at Lulu’s in Oakland I enjoyed a great lunch with Dr. Chad Hermann, professor at the Tepper School at Carnegie Mellon and The Wordsmith of Teacher. Wordsmith. Madman.   We ran the gamut in conversation from the virtues and pitfalls of anonymous blogging to the unexpected maturities of pre-teen love.  Oh, and then there’s the shirts from Hell.

In honor of the lunch, the picture above is of the Official Muse of TWM.  Love the accent too.

(Editor’s note:  I didn’t even see the picture on the right side of TWM of Ms. Beckinsale until after I selected this one.  Great minds think alike…?)

Lucas After The Lid

Pittsburgh Blogfest 10 is going on right now at Finnegan’s Wake downtown.  I am at a business intelligence conference in Seattle, so in an effort to be there in spirit I’m going to write about an exciting development on The Sandwich.

One of the categories for HaGS is “What ever happened to…?” and in August of 2005 I wondered about Lucas Secon, the performer who had the hit “Lucas with the Lid Off” (one of my favorite songs) in 1994 and then promptly disappeared.

To my surprise and delight, Lucas himself discovered my entry recently and posted a comment on that post:

Peep up to date info on my myspace/lucasproductions page.Luc

Short but sweet, Luc lets us know what he’s up to.  I’m going to check out his current music, but it looks as though he’s more of a producer now than a content producer.

Putting my evangelism hat on for a moment, this is the kind of thing that makes me such a huge supporter for blogging and new content management.  The fact that Lucas found what I wrote on the Internet and was able to update me (and you) on what he’s been doing is phenomenal!  No agent, no press release, no intermediary necessary.

The conversation is the best part.
