Top Five Favorite Retro Arcade Games

On March 1, 2008, in Games, by Woy

Here’s the first list for the month of March and NaBloPoMo, baby!

5. Gorf: I played this sit-down console at the Harbor Inn in Philipsburg, PA while my family would enjoy their breakfast on Sunday mornings before we went to Erie. The best part is when you hit the reactor in the flagship.

4. Sinistar: “Beware, I live!” The voice of Sinistar is probably the most memorable and best part of the game, as it taunts you that it is coming and screams as it attacks you. As a young kid, it’s actually is a little scary to play.

3. Donkey Kong Jr.: Skyway Tavern was where I put some serious miles on this game, and I’ll never forget when I finished the fourth board for the first time.

2. Pac Man: Perkins Restaurant on 8th Street in Erie with french fries and gravy. Quarter after quarter, I got to the key board once in the early 80′s.

1. Galaga: Level 32, baby.

This Quilt is Way Better Than Galaxian

Galaga Quilt

This is quite frankly the coolest handcrafted thing I’ve seen in a while.

I know there are some knitters and other artisans who sometimes visit this blog.  If you’re ever deciding to throw a quilt together (I know they are different) as a gift for me, please do something in the form of a video game.  Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, or Zaxxon is perfect acceptable.

As an aside, I rocked the game Galaga.  I used to play it at the Skyway Tavern and/or Country Fair (when Mom used to run for milk and such).  Level 20+ was a usual achievement.
