In my previous post, I talked about some discomfort that Mrs. Woy had been experiencing in her left leg. We had all (Doctors and Woys alike) believed that it was a compressed femoral nerve and would be causing her some discomfort for at least a few weeks… if not the balance of her pregnancy.

The pain didn’t get better. It got worse, So we found ourselves taking residence at Magee hospital, with their outstanding nurses and doctors. We hoped it would be a brief stay just to get the nerve pain under control and make her comfortable.

Picture our freaking out surprise when we were told a third of the way through Mrs. Woy’s two week hospital stay that she has a deep vein blood clot which is quite a serious condition. If untreated, bad things could happen. Even when treated, there’s a very small chance bad things could happen.

Couple that with another not so nice thing that happened (more on that later), and it makes for some anxious times.

It is in these times that friends buoy the spirit.

Mrs. Woy and I have received the kindest words of caring, encouragement, and support over the past few weeks from friends near and far via all avenues, from e-mails to text messages.

One of the most touching things happened last Friday: A tremendous bouquet of flowers greeted Mrs. Woy on her first day home from the hospital, which she hailed as “one of the most incredible arrangements she had ever seen.”

Then, as if that thoughtfulness wasn’t enough… the new media peeps went and conspired to gather a collection of delicious food, drinks, and beer (for me – the expectant Dad) to make our return home from our suite at Magee so much easier.

Norm, Cindy, and Norm’s brother dropped by to deliver the goods and watch the last half of the Penguins game with us. It was there I learned that if I don’t watch the game, the Penguins score (and win!) It was fun, and great to have visitors at home.

Mrs. Woy and I can’t say enough how greatly we appreciate these kind gestures, and how thoughtful everyone was that was involved with making this happen.

Just when I thought being involved and a part of the local social media fabric couldn’t get any more special, I see how truly wonderful it is.

Thank you. So very much.

Blogfest 13 was anything but unlucky on Friday night despite Mother Nature conspiring to incite Bread-and-Milk type pandemonium earlier in the day. Some familiar faces along with new ones (Hi, Lady D and Andrea!), it made for a great evening. Never seems like enough time though to chat and catch up with everyone, so hopefully there will be other times and places soon.

Along with other events, Blogfest affords me the opportunity to get exposed to new content that I may not have yet experienced. I could comb through blogrolls, or get on StumbleUpon again and see what I can find. I find that personal recommendations, like real life, serve as the best source for reliable information.

I humbly solicit from you, my dear reader(s), the blogs/podcasts/websites that are currently rocking your world or moving your soul. They can be old favorites, new guilty pleasures, or anything in between.

Realizing it would be difficult if I limited you to one, so I’d love to hear two. If you’re feeling particularly spicy, you can unleash three.

All lines are open… so please light up those comments! And, of course, thank you in advance.
